Manual Bookkeeping

AIMS
In summary, the qualification aims to enable candidates to:

1. Assess their competence and understanding in carrying out a range of day-to-day book-keeping routines and activities using a manual book-keeping system. The activities will include routine manual book-keeping tasks including the preparation of FinancialStatements for a Sole Trader or partnership.

2. To assess their understanding of the importance of maintaining accuracy, security and integrity in performing any book-keepingtasks using a manual accounting system.

Upon completion, progress in their learning to further develop their knowledge, understanding and skills by:
Further studies of accounting routines and procedure at this Level (Level 3) and some at Level 4 of the National Occupational Standards Progression to the IAB Level 3 Diploma in Computerised Book-keeping.

 

Computerised Bookkeeping

AIMS
In summary, the qualification aims to enable candidates to:
1. Assess their competence and understanding in carrying out a wide range of accounting routines and activities using a computerised accounting package. The activities will include data maintenance, entry of accounting transactions, period end tasks (e.g. recurring transactions, prepayments and accruals, depreciation), and non-routine book-keeping tasks.

2. To assess their understanding of the importance of maintaining accuracy, security and integrity in performing any book-keeping tasks using a computerised system.

Upon completion candidates may progress in their learning to further develop their knowledge, understanding and skills by:
Further studies of accounting routines and procedures
Using the information provided as a basis for calculating costs of production, administration, selling and distribution.
Progression to the IAB Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and Advanced Book-keeping.

 

Small Business Financial Management

AIMS
In summary, the qualification aims to enable candidates to:
1. Develop an understanding of fundamental, financial management activities.
2. Develop the skills to perform some of the routine, financial record-keeping tasks.
3. Develop the skills to perform a range of key financial management tasks.
4. Understand the importance of accuracy in performing financial record-keeping and management tasks.
5. Upon completion, progress in their learning to further develop their knowledge, understanding and skills.

 

Computerised Payroll

AIMS
In summary, the qualification aims to enable candidates to:

1. Further develop their understanding of payroll procedures in a computerised environment.
2. Develop the skills to perform routine and some non-routine payroll tasks using commercial payroll software.
3. Understand the importance of accuracy and security in performing any payroll task.
